Here you’ll find a ongoing list of places you can hike all around Texas broken down by main parks and major cities. This will hopefully encourage everyone to get out there and hit the trails! The Texas Hiking Guide has every thing from the major state parks to popular regional parks.

Be advised that the trail systems listed below are mixed-use trails, so there may be some that favor mountain biking over hiking.

Texas Parks & Wildlife

The state parks are run by the Texas Parks & Wildlife department. Over 90 different locations that range from state parks to natural areas, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers run facilities all throughout the state, and a good majority of them are close to bodies of water. Visit the directory for more information on camp grounds and parks.

LCRA Parks

The Lower Colorado River Authority maintain parks all along the Colorado River, and also have some of the nicest parks I’ve hiked at. There are some parks that offer camping, so check out the guide to learn more. You can also check out some of the top picks on this post.

U.S. Fish & Wildlife

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife maintain multiple wildlife refuges for the purpose of conserving lands for the wildlife that inhabit the areas. What they typically lack in amenities they make up for in amazing views of areas that are usually not as traveled. Here is a listing of all locations in Texas.
